Respite Care Providers

We Are a Respite Care Clearinghouse!

Families and service providers acquainted with issues in children’s mental health frequently recognize the strong need and lack of respite care providers as one of the largest gaps in services for both themselves and others. 

To assist our families in finding appropriate respite care, we have contracted with the Department of Health and Welfare as a statewide clearinghouse for respite care providers.  Our service includes an online listing of providers by region, which can be located on this page. Interested families also are encouraged to call the office for listed providers in their area.

Respite care is defined as:

• An intermittent period of relief for the primary caregiver in order that s/he may take a break from the continual responsibilities of care giving. 
• A short-term period of relief when there is trauma or increased family stress due to an unforeseen family emergency or crisis. 
• A personal break for the parent or primary caregiver of children with serious mental or emotional disturbances.
