Board of Directors

We are looking for people who support the Idaho Federation of Families, are family friendly, are accessible and open to dialogue with all members of the Federation, are assertive and willing to get involved, and are committed to improving services for families who have children with emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders.

Board Members' Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Actively participate in strategic oversight and planning process.
  • Have a clear understanding of the organization's mission, goals, and strategies for serving the community.
  • Have a clear understanding of the board’s legal and ethical responsibilities, duties, and fiduciary roles.
  • Have a clear understanding of the board committees, the delegation of tasks, and separation of duties between staff and board members.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in board, committee, and special meetings.
  • Serve on at least one board committee.
  • Support majority decisions.
  • Present unified front to public.
  • Understand financial statements. Exercise prudence in the control and transfer of funds. Ensure that proper financial controls exist.
  • Strategically recruit and suggest nominees to the board.
  • Outreach to diversify board and committee membership with people who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and to the progress and sustainability of the organization.
  • Support and solicit donations for fundraising events.
  • Participate in board assessment and development to strengthen board membership skills and expertise, and to build support and advocacy for the organization’s mission.
  • Build and recognize leadership capacity in the board, and the organization.
  • Serve as ambassador of the organization in the community.
  • Serve as trustee for the organization’s history and sustainability.
  • The collective board functions and duties are fulfilled through the team efforts of all the board members.
