IFFCMH FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST
TIME: Maximum 28 hours per week
SALARY: $10 per hour
BENEFITS: 1.68 hours vacation/month;
4 hours sick leave/month; 2 paid holidays
SUPERVISOR: Key Family Contact/Administrative Director
LOCATION: Postitions located around Idaho (hiring immediately for
Region II).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Personal experience in family advocacy, training family members and providers,
working in children’s mental health, and/or supervisory experience in program coordination,
planning, development and/or evaluation. Prefer someone with a child who has received
services from a public agency for children’s mental health related issues.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Under the guidance of the Key Family Contact, help in the development, implementation,
and supervision of an effective regional system of care at regional level. Includes providing
information, referral, case management, informal support, education and advocacy to families with children seeking/receiving public services for mental health related issues. Must have good skills in negotiation, public relations, and training and be able to work independently. Travel as necessary. Dependable vehicle required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as part of the development team for a 3-year program plan for building and strengthening a System of Care throughout Idaho.
- Identify and target audiences for providing trainings that include family advocates, youth advocates, providers and staff at both management and direct service level, community partners, educators, and youth service providers and others as needed.
- Advise in the development of curricula and training materials that promote a family-driven system of care.
- Be available to assist DHW and partners to understand issues as they relate to families.
- Distribute, collect and compile various data (e.g., participant evaluation forms, request for information, conference information, etc.).
- Maintain confidential and adequate records.
- Work with parents, caregivers, youth, adolescents.
- Be available to assist families having difficulty accessing services.
- Provide support to parents, consultants, professional staff and community partners on an as-needed basis.
- Collaborate with the Department of Health and Welfare in the provision of services and the System of Care Evaluation.
- Assist in the development of parent-to-parent support groups.
- Offer training as needed on various topics of collaboration, mental health disorders, family needs, provider needs, etc.
- Partner in the evaluation and analysis of program performance.
- Attend conferences, training, and meetings as necessary/assigned.
- Participate in regional/local councils and on other boards/committees as requested.
- Develop strong community partnerships.
- Other duties as assigned.
